The More One Sows is a new independent site, launched in October 2026. The domain previously hosted an unrelated personal garden blog; this site is not connected to that blog or its author and does not reuse its content, identity, stories or voice.
Sources
Every fact, number, date and name on a content page comes from a page that was opened and read during research, and each page lists its sources at the end with links. Preferred sources, in order:
- US land-grant university Cooperative Extension services and their publications.
- Federal agencies (for example NOAA NCEI, USDA, CDC, FDA, SBA) and city or state governments.
- Statutes and official agency pages for anything legal, such as cottage food rules.
- Peer-reviewed journals, botanical gardens and established nonprofit programs, used where the above are silent.
Commercial seed, feed and garden-product sites are not used as sources.
When sources disagree
Extension services write for their own states, so figures differ. Rather than average them, the tables show each source's figure side by side (see the container and square foot tables). Where evidence is weak, as with many companion planting claims, the page says so explicitly.
Calculators
The planting calendar and soil calculator run in plain JavaScript inside the page. They store nothing, send nothing and use no outside scripts. Each tool prints the full table of offsets or the formula it uses, so results can be checked by hand.
Drawings
There are no photos. Each page carries at least one original drawing made as inline SVG, captioned "Drawing by The More One Sows, based on the cited sources", with its labels repeated in a text list for screen readers and search. Drawings are schematic and not to scale unless stated.
AI assistance and review
Research and drafting are AI-assisted. Drafts are checked against the opened sources before publication; anything that could not be traced to a source is removed or rewritten. Pages carry a review date, and rules-based pages (farm stands, animals) note that regulations change.
Corrections
Because every claim links to its source, the source is the authority. If a linked page has changed, the original takes precedence over the summary here.
- Open the source
- Record the figure with its source
- Compare with other sources
- Publish side by side, with evidence notes
